Johannesburg, South Africa – The Boxer Super Run Joburg is gearing up for an explosive debut on Sunday, 9 November 2025, at Marks Park Sports Club. As South Africa’s most social 5km run, this exciting event will offer a total prize purse of R147 200, ensuring fierce competition among the country’s top athletes.
The winners of the Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s races will each walk away with R20 000, while cash prizes will also be awarded across both the Elite and Open Wave categories.
“We’re proud to announce that the Boxer Super Run Joburg will offer a prize purse of R147 200 in 2025,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Our goal is to elevate the profile of short-distance road running by recognising and rewarding South Africa’s top performers. With this prize money, we’re setting the stage for thrilling competition and unforgettable performances.”
Prize money will be awarded to the top eight men and women in the Elite Race, while participants in the Open Wave will also have opportunities to win across age categories from Junior through to 70+.
Meyer adds,
“The 5km distance remains a crowd favourite – it’s fast, tactical, and requires immense endurance. With a substantial prize purse on offer, we anticipate world-class performances and an electrifying spectacle for spectators.”
