“Sport as Our Launchpad”
Speaking ahead of the event, Mr Steven Ball, Director of TuksSport and Acting CEO of the High Performance Centre (HPC), shared his insights into what drives the institution’s sustained success:
“At the core of our journey is a clear and powerful purpose — to be meaningful in our impact, using sport as our launchpad, rooted in a value system embedded in our culture of being part of the Stripe Generation.”
He added:
“Our student-athletes continue to inspire us — not only through their performances on the field, but also through their academic achievements. They embody balance, excellence, and purpose.”
Beyond Winning and Losing
TuksSport’s vision extends beyond the scoreboard. The organisation’s philosophy embraces the idea that performance is not defined by one person, one team, or one outcome — it’s the result of a well-coordinated system that prioritises holistic development.
From Olympic champions and Varsity Cup heroes to rising stars balancing textbooks and training sessions, TuksSport’s impact reaches far beyond campus boundaries. It serves as a catalyst for empowerment, unity, and national pride.

A Legacy That Inspires
As anticipation builds for the 2025 TuksSport Colours and Awards Evening, one thing is certain — the celebration will not only honour outstanding individuals and teams but also reaffirm TuksSport’s role as a leader in shaping the future of South African and global university sport.
